Candle Of Human Potential
How Bright is Your Light?
The importance of the relationship between the “Three Treasures” can easily be understood using a simple analogy of a candle.
The wax is the substa
nce or Vitality (Jing) of the candle. The size and quality of the wax determines it’s potential life.
The flame is the Energy (Chi) in action. The steadier the flame the longer the candle will last. Too long a wick and flame, burns an inappropriate amount of wax.
The ultimate reason to have a candle is to create light which is the Spirit (Shen) aspect of the candle.
The Old Saying “Burning The Candle at Both Ends”
Describes an Inappropriate Use of Vitality and Energy.
Burning the candle at both ends doesn’t always mean you’re partying too much and staying up late. It can be used to describe any excessive behavior that creates an imbalanced life.
For me, being a tri-athlete, it was way too much exercise and not enough rest. Throw in a lack of fun and deep relationships and it was inevitable that something bad was coming my way.
A major traffic accident and chronic fatigue was my gift from a compassionate universe to force me into changing my life.
I was so stressed and blind to what was going on that it took something real drastic for me to change. Believe me, getting crushed in traffic accident and spending 8 days in a hospital was drastic but true to human behavior I was slipping back to my old familiar life until I wandered into an herb shop.
After a few weeks of apprenticing, a simple cup of tea sparked an awakening that changed my world and propelled me on my path of healing and to teach as many people as possible about the wonders of Chinese herbs.
But ask yourself “What is the purpose of a candle?”
The purpose of a candle is to throw light into a dark space. The light or radiance given off by the flame is Spirit.
Our purpose as human beings is to discover our passion in life and cast our light out into the world. Cultivating Vitality and Energy increases our chances unveiling our personal radiance and manifesting our Spirit.
“We Will Be Remembered by
the Joy and Light We Bring to Others.”
