Homeostasis

Do You Know How Smart Your Body Really Is?

One of my favorite topics in the health field is talking about homeostasis.  It was first mentioned in a book called “Wisdom Of The Body” and the title is a perfect description of homeostasis.

Homeostasis is an “Innate Wisdom”

That Your Body Has to

Always Move Toward a State of Health.

In fact, every cell in your entire being is always trying to move towards this state of health.  So you can look at homeostasis as this “internal regulating energy” that we all have. And the key to it is eating really well because every function in your body including all cellular process is dependent on nutrition.

If you don’t feed your body well, then homeostasis kicks in and takes over and starts to regulate all these different processes in your system to make up for the lack of something somewhere.  It will rob nutrients from one place to correct something to keep you in somewhat of a state of balance so that you don’t become sick or you don’t die.

Homeostasis is Only Concerned

With the Present Moment

So every time you eat something that is loaded with sugar, empty calories, artificial sweeteners and other chemicals, homeostasis goes to work. It draws energy from all around your body in the form of minerals and nutrients to counteract the effects of what you just ate so you can continue to feel almost normal.

I’m sure you’re thinking “If that’s the case, I can eat anything I want because my body will be balanced out anyway”.

Not hardly. You see…..after a while things start to breakdown.

“Your Body Will Eventually Break Down”

You can’t continue to rob Peter to pay Paul without it eventually catching up with you.   It’s like paying off your credit card with another credit card.  Eventually the system breaks down and in the case of the human body we’re now talking about chronic disease.

Your body can no longer compensate for its deficiencies and it eventually breaks down.

A great example of this is how your brain functions with a lack of choline, the essential nutrient need to make acetylcholine or ACh.  ACh is the neurotransmitter responsible for how fast your brain processes information and plays a huge roll in accessing memories.  It’s also the main neurotransmitter that’s lacking in Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Choline is needed to make acetylcholine but our diet is often lacking in sufficient quantity so the brain can actually be starving for this nutrient.  If this deficit of choline goes on for an extended period homeostasis will actually breakdown neuronal membrane to get the choline needed to make ACh.

So to keep the brain in working order another aspect of the brain is compromised which can further complicate things down the road.

Sounds awful doesn’t it?

Remember, homeostasis is about NOW, not next week or 20 years down the road as you age.  Wouldn’t it be better to just eat well and supplement a few nutrients that we all need anyway?

Homeostasis Goes on Every Single Moment

To Keep You Feeling Vital and Alive

Or at Least Somewhat Healthy.

And the key to this whole process is eating really well, drinking good clean water, and taking certain supplements and herbs according to your own needs based on your lifestyle and for whatever issues you have going on, especially stress.

All these things help your own internal regulation or homeostasis keep you in a state of balance and in a state of health.

The #1 thing that throws off homeostasis is stress.

Chronic stress immediately impacts the part of your glandular system that regulates stress response and unless this system is supported it eventually goes off and the whole body starts to suffer.  Your requirements for most nutrients goes way up and your diet alone can rarely handle it.

That’s why adaptogenic herbs are so important because in the proper dose and formula they can actually support your body’s own stress response and keep it healthy.  This is the best way to stop your loss of energy and “Life Force”.
